About

Let's Grow Good Food Locally!

Project 2015-01-06 15:23:45 +1300

What?

Grow Aotearoa is a new social enterprise working to help communities grow good food.

We're raising $3500 to get our team through the Live the Dream process. Funds will be used to support our crew with travel, accomodation and resources to get us through to the final investment pitch. With your help we will gain the skills required to run a social enterprise with awesome benefits for both people and the environment. Any donations over and above our funding goal will be used to support our first community projects.

Who?

From the left our team includes: Kaye-Maree Dunn (BA – Maori Resource Management), Connor Boyle (Student – Geography & Environmental Science), Mita Dunn (Management consultant), Gareth Sven-Corder (Occupational Therapist), Alexis, James Michael (BA – Visual Arts, Honors Diploma Art & Creativity), Oliver Bone (MSc Candidate in Marine Biology) and Leanne Myers (Director of Organic Wealth and ECHOES hub). Others members: Joe Simmonds  (Board Member – Permaculture in New Zealand), Fredd Marshall (Permaculturalist).

Why?

With today's increasing incidence of chronic disease, rising carbon emissions (a huge chunk of which are caused by agriculture), children going to school hungry and the erosion of community spirit, there is more need than ever for people to step up to face these challenges. Growing food together can contribute to solving these complex issues.

How?

Social enterprise combines the ethics of charity with the efficiency and scaleability of business. Like a business, social enterprise generates revenue. However, the entire enterprise is geared around creating social good, with any profits being used to achieve this. This model is driving positive social and environmental change all around the world. Right now we are taking part in the Live The Dream social enterprise incubator in Wellington.

This intensive 10 week programme will set us up to achieve our mission using the best tools available in the social enterprise sector. We have three people working full time on the programme and others part time.

You?

In return for your donation we are offering YOU the following rewards:

$5 Eternal gratitude and a shout-out on our FB page

$30  Seeds sown in your name

$50 Plant a native tree with us!

$75 Native tree planted in your name

$120 Fruit tree planted in your name

$500 Permaculture design consultation for your property

$1200 Full permablitz experience

... So whether you choose to dig deep or dig a little, it will help us to dig and plant and GROW AOTEAROA!!

Arohanui - With love,

The Grow Aotearoa team
