Get Fresh And Fruity To Chronophonium

Fresh and Fruity is both an artist run space and a loose collective of artists based in Dunedin.

THE PROJECT

We have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to do a project at Chronophonium festival in the Coromandel in January next year. Something that is always seemingly lacking at every festival we have been to is a space to relax and recuperate. We are intending to create two spaces. The first will be a tranquility tent where we will offer a number beauty treatments and other services, such as face masks, manicures, haircuts, health boost foods and lint rolling. All free of charge in a space designed around the idea of centering one's self and being the best they can be. We are making our own kombucha, beauty products, merchandise and sparkling water. We want to create an open space that is opulent, luxurious, friendly and welcoming. It will be both a series of performative exchanges and a genuine attempt to put people at ease in an environment, which can often be quite intense socially, depending on what you are doing and how you are feeling. We will act as a team of both counsellors and beauticians, giving advice where needed and helping people feel relaxed and safe. We will be showing a series of different works that have been shown at our gallery in Dunedin. The second room we intend on making will be a film screening room, which will be designed for people to lay down and just chill out and eat some caramel corn. We have a spinning rotation of films by artists from all over the world, many of which featured in our recent GIVE ME UR ATTENTION film screening.

THE TEAM

We are a group of artists and designers. Hpa Gd4bb is a artist, writer and curator. Phoebe Mackenzie is a film maker and artist. Mya Middleton is a writer and curator. Alannah Kwant is a creative director and fashion designer. Kimmi Rindel is an artist. Lucas Armstrong is the super tech, super practical heartthrob and the glue that holds us together <3

THE BUDGET

We have allocated $600 to assist each of us to get up to the Coromandel from Dunedin and also to help with the cost of many of the components of this project, including merchandise, food, beauty products and building supplies. We have been slowly building up a collection of these objects in preparation for Chronophnium, but the geographical distance and our desire to make this project as good as possible demands we need more help. We want to be able to give people an experience they will never forget. We want to be able to create an environment where people feel at ease whatever condition they might be in.
