TPPA Protest: It's Our Future - Family Fun And TPPA Information Day In Christchurch

About the TPPA

The TPPA is the worlds largest trade deal and it's being drafted behind closed doors.

What we know of it has come through leaked documents and it doesn't look good.

In legal circles this deal is known as "New Constitutionalism", a constitution by capital, with capital, and for capital.  Global culture should be a multipolar democratic exercise not corporate monopoly!

Under Investor State Dispute Settlements(bold) corporations will have advanced powers to sue elected governments if our laws interfere with their profits and it wont matter what government is in power we will be locked in under the trade deal to meet corporate obligations.  The fact that this deal highly favours the US market, especially considering that increasing the US dairy sector is number 1 on the US' list of sensitivities, so we really have nothing to gain!

Plus we risk losing Pharmac, ACC and other state owned enterprises, as well as affecting intellectual property rights that favours US markets and would stifle our innovation.

What Will The Money Be Used For

We are a diverse group who have gone into our own, rather shallow, pockets to tackle big bussiness' attack on our democracy by organising a march and Family Fun / Free music concert in Christchurch on the recent international day of acton Nov 8th.

What we managed to achieve with very own limited funds was amazing and had a big impact, with an estimated 1500 - 1800 people turning up in Christchurch for the march and Hagley Park awareness festival. However the party CAN'T stop here and all the printing of material, banners, event organisation and hire has left us in serious need to re-coup some of our costs so that we can forge on for the next round of awareness raising and plan the next event.

We are asking for everyone who attended the event, or anyone who is interested and can support the campaign, to donate and help us continue the fight for all our rights, and the sovereignty of our beloved Aotearoa, because at the end of the day It's All Our Futures that are at stake.
