Lights, Camera, Kenya - Matt's Volunteer Adventure!

Let me tell you the story of Kwacha Afrika.  The organisation started in the year 2000 with the backdrop of uplifting talents. Through the theatre mentorship program, youth have been able to achieve a lot, both locally and nationally despite their levels of education. Their performances are based on good governance, environmental issues, women empowerment, youth empowerment, health, land matters, and disabilities.  It is purely talent oriented and does not discriminate in terms of level of education, being a common problem in Coast region, which can lead to youth marginalisation, poor service delivery, and lack of employment. Kwacha members, especially the theatre members, have been very instrumental in educating the community through partner co-operation.

Kwacha Film Production House and its volunteers have decided to continue with the spirit of uplifting youth talents because we have realised with the new digital era, theatre is appreciated and can be very well paying to artists.  Youth are often discouraged to continue such programmes due to poor support from their political leaders and even the government at large.  Without help, the situation can be very demotivating!

This is where I come in  ->Matt-Man

G'Day Mates! I first heard of Kwacha Afrika Film Production from my girlfriend, who currently collaborates with Kwacha and will be returning in February 2015 for her PhD research.  As her sidekick, I decided I couldn't let her go alone for eight months!  I want to make my first African experience as meaningful as possible, and given my diverse talents in DJing, drama, singing, instructing, sales and marketing, I thought volunteering with a start-up film production company that caters to the community was the perfect opportunity.

This is my FIRST volunteer experience and I need your help to make it possible.  Currently, I have funded my flights all the way from AKL to Mombasa, and will be investing every earned cent until takeoff!  Here is where you can contribute and receive some awesome rewards along the way.
