About

7 Days To Make Voting Sexy With RockEnrol

Project 2014-08-16 18:56:32 +1200

We are RockEnrol. We are a group of young people passionate about getting more young people voting (for whoever they want) in this years Election. We think politics (and participating in picking the leaders of the country) is pretty important but currently boring, bureaucratic & not very sexy. We use popular culture, parties, prizes and people power to make politics more fun.

We have received more than 20 media hits locally & nationally since our launch earlier this year in May (which we also launched with a PledgeMe campaign).

With just 16 days to go til voting opens, we want to spread the message far and wide that voting is sexy and all the cool kids are doing it - will you help us do it?

-

WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING?

This money will help fund our final election push. We will use the profits (after production costs) to print & distribute more posters and stickers, pay for FB ads, promote out final parties (13th & 18th) plus buy our volunteers beers to say thanks.

WHY HAVE WE DECIDED TO GO DOWN THE SEXY TRACK?

1) We think Voting = Caring and Caring = Sexy

2) We have NOTHING to hide. We are 100% transparent in our operations.

3) If you think this cheapens politics, you are probably already engaged in the conversation, which means you are not our target audience

4) We live in the age of Miley & Kardashians, we recognise sex sells

5) We need to sell some Calendars to make some $$$ because we are really, very broke.

WHAT ARE THE REWARDS?

Voting Is Sexy Calendar 2015

The RockEnrol '15 Calendar will feature a range of our volunteers (of all different shapes, sizes, ethnicities and looks) taking a bit of clothing off for the cause (which is deepening democracy in NZ). Photos are taken in either natural environments, doing daily activities & chores or posing in places that are relevant to the person being photographeds reason for voting.

Swag Sticker & Badge Pack

Featuring a couple of RockEnrol badges & Voting Is Sexy stickers so you too, can spread the word in your hood.

RockEnrol '14 Limited Edition Tee

Unisex and available in XS, S, M, L, XL - all our t-shirts are fairtrade.

HELLO PLEDGEES!

A HUGE and very SINCERE thank you for your support of our PledgeMe campaign, you are all superstars! Since the setback of theft, we have had lots of photographers put their hands up to help out and lend gear, which is really awesome, but because of the lost photos, it has just meant there has been a little delay in delivery. We'll be shooting the final photos this weekend (to re-shoot some of the lost photos, as the volunteer models still wanted to be in the Calendar) and we'll send the Design File off to the printer on Monday (1st Sept) and they should be printed and ready to send off just in time for when Voting opens on Wed/Thu (3rd or 4th).

If you got a t-shirt, we are getting them printed off this week. Please send us an email on [email protected] with your preferred size ASAP (XS to XXL available).

Any questions or concerns, feel free to get in touch!

Thanks again, we really appreciate your support :)

Some good news & some bad news

21/08/2014 at 10:04 AM

Hey everyone!

We have some good news & some bad, and today we will start with the good...

Firstly, a huge thank you for your support thus far, hitting target in less than 36 hours is an enormous triumph and WE ARE SO GRATEFUL for your support!

The bad news...

Yesterday Hannah (our Art Director) and Laurelle (our wonderful photographer - check out her work here) were out at Bethells Beach taking photos for our Calendar and while they were on the beach the car got broken into and Laurelles wallet, phone, cash, lens and camera bag was stolen (valued at around $3000 total). Thankfully she had her camera on her BUT... some of the memory cards with our photographs were in there, which means there is now some random person out there with a bunch of naked photos, which makes us very sad and worried.

I am so sorry we have unintentionally let this happen. We have filed a police report, and called all the Pawn Shops and Cash Converters in West Auckland to ask them to let us know if someone comes in with a lens. We are also keeping an eye on TradeMe.

So, now we are asking people to pledge more to the pledgeme campaign to help give Laurelle some money (as she has no job & was doing this project for the love of it). If you could share this campaign and word of what has happened with your friends & family, we would really appreciate it. We are also asking people to keep an eye out for photos so we can perhaps try and track where they came from (using the IP) should they end up online (or we can at least request to have them removed).

In saying all this, it was just memory cards that were stolen and no camera, so maybe they won't even look at what's on them.

So... that's the situation at hand. We have 5 days til the Design File is meant to be sent off to the wonderful people at Pronto Print (who are making our Calendar at cost) and we have 5 out of the 14 photographs we are wanting to include complete.

We will be taking photos in Auckland this Friday, Saturday and Sunday so if you or anyone you know is a photographer, we might need some more hands on deck to still get the job done. If you know of or are someone who can help, please let me know.

Thanks for all your support. Despite the challenges we believe in this project and what we can do with the funding and we are so grateful that you do too.

Arohanui,

Laura x
