A Little About Me

Hello and thank you for coming to my PledgeMe page. My name is Chris Turner, some of you will recognise me from MasterChef New Zealand. I was overjoyed to be selected as part of the final 16 contestants and I was very proud to make it to the top 11! It has always been a dream of mine to study at the world famous culinary institute Le Cordon Bleu and I have been accepted on a place on the Diplome de Patisserie (Patisserie Diploma) which is absolutely amazing. I submitted an application for a scholarship earlier this year and I am extremely honoured to have been offered a partial scholarship! My dream is to open a Patisserie style cafe in Christchurch New Zealand as part of the rebuild following the devastating earthquake last year. I plan for my Patisserie to be something different, with some classic sweet treats, some very decadent and special and some weird and wacky Willy Wonker-esque treats that will give my customers something to talk about. I know that studying at Le Cordon Bleu will give me the knowledge and the confidence to open my Patisserie, but I need your help to get me there!

What I am Hoping to Achieve

Ok, so I have said that I have been awarded a partial scholarship to study at Le Cordon Bleu, this scholarship reduces my diploma course fees by $10,000 and leaves me to raise $23,500. Unfortunately, the due date for these fees is fast approaching and any help you can give me would be amazing. I have already been doing some fundraising by selling my sweet treats to people and I am also looking at venues to hold a fundraising dinner. I have also been saving my butt off since being awarded the scholarship.

I need to raise $5,000 from this campaign, although I will still require further funding. I hope to be able to raise the rest through other fundraising but if we can get my total over the $5,000 mark, I will be over the moon!

So, what do you get?

Well, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you have contributed towards the dreams of a MasterChef finalist! Please also see the perks being offered on the right hand side. I would recommend the delicious Macarons... I have been playing with some interesting and different, but delicious flavours to get your taste buds tingling like my fizzy cola or popping strawberry bublegum. Also, the dinner cooked in your home would be great fun... and a good way to learn some secrets from MasterChef!

Other Ways You Can Help

I know that a lot of people are going through tough times at the moment, even in my home City there are a lot of people struggling financially after the earthquakes. Any contribution, not matter how small, will be sincerely and gratefully received. If you are not able to contribute financially, that's ok, you can still help by sharing this page everywhere for me, FaceBook, Twitter and through your workplaces etc.

Thank you again for your time and I hope to meet some of you one day at my Patisserie!
