Jessica Howard To Record Her Debut EP

Kia ora everyone!! Welcome to my project...

Hi, I’m Jess, I’m 18 years old and I am an aspiring singer/songwriter recording my debut EP

I’m also a Year 13 (class 12) student at Raphael House Rudolf Steiner School in Lower Hutt. 2014 is shaping up to be a busy year; as well as concentrating on my Level 3 Steiner School Certificate, I have to complete my Class 12 project (http://www.raphaelhouse.school.nz/school/upper-school/) . This is a project that takes at least 8 months so I’ve chosen to record my debut EP as it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a few years now.

So far I have written quite a few songs; some of which I have decided to use in my album and some I have decided to put aside for later. I have almost finished recording my third song and I’m hoping to have 5 songs finished to a professional standard by my project due date in September that I can release in the form of a hard copy album and also online.

The reason for my video is that I’ve estimated my overall costs to be about $5000.00 but in reality this may be more. I am hoping to raise at least $3,000.00 of this through Pledgeme. All donations and pledges received will help to pay for the following;

  •   Studio recording and production fees
  •  Other musician’s contributions
  •  Copyright registration
  • Album artwork
  •  Pressing the album

 I have had a love for music as long as I can remember and I played a few instruments when I was younger including starting guitar when I was 13. I still play a bit of piano and sing and first started publically performing when I was 14. I take music and extension music at school and recently entered the Smoke Free Rock Quest in May 2014 in which I won the Wellington region’s MAINZ musicianship award. This has given me the possibility of winning a scholarship to study music in either Auckland or Christchurch.

Next year I plan on studying music. I would love to study and work with song writing and/or performing. My goal is to become a full time musician: to write, record, and perform my own music as it’s what I really have a passion for and I’m hoping that my experiences this year with my project will really help with this.

Just before I go, I would like to say how grateful I am to be able to have this experience and to say a huge thank you to my music teacher, Megan McCarthy for all of her wonderful encouragement and support. I would also like to say thank you to my producer Phil Riley, who I can’t thank enough for all his help and hard work with my recording and producing. He is doing a fantastic job!!

I really appreciate all of your generous donations and support - thank you! You can follow my progress on my project's official Facebook page where I will keep you all up to date.

All the best, Jess
