My Amazing PLN
First off, I'm not one that easily asks for help - so this is a pretty big deal. Asking help of whanau and friends and sometimes the bank is damn difficult.. but asking of my Professional Learning Network is even harder. My PLN supports me constantly. They are a growing network of educators who always inspire and support me. I'm lucky to say that my PLN spans our amazing country of New Zealand and also has many connected educators from around the world.
Needless to say - I appreciate you all so much and you've always been there for me when I was in a crisis - even if you never knew I needed it! I'm hoping it might be the same for you too. Hopefully I have been an amazing part of your PLN as you have been of mine.
The Point
I know it takes me a while to get here - but here it is - The Point: I need help to go to ULearn14.
You all know how obsessed I am with learning new things, in particular integrating technology into the classroom and moving into the 21st century for our 21st century students.
A Call to Arms
This call for help comes after giving my proposal to my school to help part-pay the conference which was unsuccessful - as a young teacher it is a pretty expensive conference for me to pay for by myself - and I was lucky enough to be allowed to go to the NZATE English Conference which was paid for by my kura where I did a workshop for the first time on using Twitter as a Teacher.
I have put a very quiet call out via Facebook post to friends and whanau asking their opinions on me crowdfunding the registration and had a few comments which put me off doing this originally.
Recently I was again fortunate enough to go to #EducampAKL with two of my favourite Rotorua tweachers and met so many of the amazing members in my PLN.
Four of my PLN have said I should create a PledgeMe. They said that they would back me to help me go to the conference. They have a theory that some of you may want to help me as well.
This is a call to arms - I have never ever done this before. But I need your help.
Please help me get to ULearn14.
Why should you Pledge?
I've decided I need to go to this - to improve myself as an educator, to develop my burgeoning awareness of things EdTech and because I really want to help my students and my school navigate the integration of tech into classrooms effectively and with fantastic results... and lots of smiles and happy faces.
The Cost
The cost of this is conference is: $695 +GST (tax).
The Praise for ULearn
Ulearn has very high praise - and has recently been called the "mother of all e-learning conferences" by Danielle Myburgh - the creator and amazing brainchild of @edchatnz.
Every conference I have gone to this year (and I have gone to a LOT) has mentioned ULearn. So many educators have told me that this is the best place to learn more about becoming more e-learning centred, so as to help enable our students to further success in the future.

Humbled and Appreciative Already
It would be even more humbling going to this event knowing that my PLN helped me get there - though I am going to the bank this week to see if they can help me - which they probably won't because I'm still chipping away at my credit card from moving down here to Rotorua.. regardless - I'll try and failing that I will go to Instant Finance.
Any help is HUGELY appreciated. If you've read my Tweets on Twitter or found something I've said helpful, or enjoyed one of my blog posts - or simply just want to help out a fellow educator.. I would be SO blessed and thankful. I'm thankful already without having to do this - so I thank you all in advance regardless of whether you can assist in this endeavour or not :)
