Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra New Album Pre-Sale!

Project 2014-07-23 15:41:01 +1200

HELP US COMPLETE OUR FIRST FULL LENGTH ALBUM!

The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra have recorded our first ever full length album, Be Mine Tonight and we're taking it on tour around New Zealand.

Having already released 4 EPs, we have finally taken the plunge and made a real album with heaps of songs. We're talking the genuine, long-player experience. Pretty big for a little instrument!

Our album is a heartfelt celebration of the New Zealand songbook. We're making great Kiwi songs even more singalongable, ukulelifying popular NZ hits from the past 100 years. The album title is courtesy of an absolute classic: Th' Dudes' song Be Mine Tonight

And we've roped in some amazing people. You'll hear the sweet pipes of acclaimed Wellington singer Lisa Tomlins, celebrated actress Amanda Billing (Shortland Street), incredible Hawai'ian ukulele player Pi'ikea Clark and Canadian uke star James Hill.

THIS PLEDGEME PROJECT IS REALLY SIMPLE: IT'S A PRE-SALE FOR OUR ALBUM

We want to pre-sell 500 copies so that we can finish off the album and get it into your hands ASAP.

Our rewards are designed to get our music to you as soon as possible. We have signed albums. Your name in our album credits. You can even be our Executive Producer. Look over there and pick one! ------>>>

What's more, by taking advantage of our pre-order sale, you'll be helping us launch the album up the NZ music charts at the time of release. Rewards all round! We sure do love a win-win!

WHERE'S THIS ALBUM, THEN?

We've completed the main instrument and vocal recordings (and they sound awesome), but there are still lots of bits that need doing before you can hear it.

Like, overdubs of ripping-hot ukulele licks and riffs. Some fancy mixing and mastering. Getting the album designed and manufactured. All of this is happening in the next couple of months!

All proceeds from this PledgeMe pre-order campaign will go on:

  • Producer and Engineer fees
  • Mixing and Mastering
  • Special Guest fees
  • Album Design and Photography
  • Manufacturing

Of course, $6,000 won't cover all these costs, but it will be a big help.

It's a very rewarding campaign! You get our new album, we get your amazing support. We're super excited about bringing brand new Wellington International Ukulele Orchestramified tracks to you. It's going to be a fantastic collection, and we can help each other to get the music in your stereo faster. Let's go!

Our new album debuted on the NZ Albums Chart at No.9. That's a Top 10 album, folks!

PSssssst! If you're in the North Island and you haven't got your tour tickets yet, heaps of the shows are selling out (or already sold out!). We had an amazing time in the South Island - rave reviews and incredible audiences.

We're in the North Island this week playing Palmerston North on Friday 21, New Plymouth Saturday 22, Taupo Sunday 23, Napier Tuesday 25, Tauranga Thursday 27, Auckland Friday 28 (7pm show sold out; 10pm show selling fast), Kerikeri Sunday 30 November.

Well hello there,

We took a moment in Masterton this weekend to sign copies of our brand, spanking new album for those of you who chose the rewards involving a signed album. Exciting!!

You can also listen to three of the album's songs right now on our Soundcloud page, and your friends can pre-order the digital version off iTunes. All the info is right here in one handy link that also includes our New Zealand tour dates. One show has already sold out and more are threatening too, so do what you need to do to ensure a seat! We can't wait to see you.

Be Mine Tonight Album Cover - Sneak Peek!

19/09/2014 at 9:38 AM

It's a big day at Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra Design HQ.

Here, Sam models the first proof for our album cover! He's looking pretty chuffed, so that must mean that our album is going off to the printer very shortly with your love and support and (in some cases) names attached. Thanks again, whanau!

Ooh, and a couple of things:

1. Remember to vote in the NZ General Election, if you are eligible!

2. Remember to book your tickets for our album release tour, 8 Nov - 6 Dec! We're not being sneaky marketing types when we say that a few shows are really selling fast and we wouldn't want you to miss out. All the ticketing links are right here

Thank You

The PledgeMe pre-order is over! Thank you for contributing!

We're deep in mixing and mastering mode now. Our album will be on public sale November 7th. If you ordered a copy, yours will be in the post before that date (though we can't guarantee what day it will arrive as that depends on the postie and the weather).

So, stand by for your rewards and we'll see you on the road in October (if you're in China, Japan or Masterton), November (if you're in New Zealand), December (if you're in Wellington) and January (if you're in the USA). We need a lie-down!

AND! We're looking forward to playing you the songs on the album live on stage on our New Zealand Tour. Be sure to get your tickets early, as you'll be in the draw to win one of five Prize Packs full of cool WIUO stuff.

15/08/2014 at 6:24 AM

Wow wow wow.

Far out!

Woke up early this morning, less than 24 hours after we started our pre-sale, to find that we were 30.5% of the way to our target!

It's exciting, but will it make Dan smile?

Will Dan Smile

Aw, we'll get there Dan! Thank you, you early adopters and long-time supporters. Keep spreading the word!

And a wee note about international shipping: if you're ordering from overseas, you need to add another $15 into the amount in the box under "Make A Pledge". Sorry New Zealand is so far away!

PS, if you want to know what our album is named after, watch Th' Dudes video!
