About

Help Us Turn Up The Youth Vote #RockEnrol

Project 2014-05-28 13:53:45 +1200

#RockEnrol is a non-partisan campaign that uses popular culture, technology, music & events to build & activate political power for young people in Aotearoa NZ.

The goals of #RockEnrol are simple:

  1. Get people enrolled (hype)
  2. Get people informed (content)
  3. Get people out to vote (action)

Building a movement

We are running a 60-day series of events & parties all around the country where the only way to get a ticket is you have to enrol & pledge to vote (for any political party) in the 2014 General Election. People can organise their own #RockEnrol Party at home or in their community, or you can attend a party that we organise at a club or a venue. Hosts will be able to download a Host Pack and the best hosts go in the draw to win cool prizes (like festival tickets, music vouchers & gym memberships).

What do we need money for?

Parties & events need money to run. You can help us keep these events free by pledging today. Our goal is to raise $10k in 3 weeks (but we set the target at $5k, so we can at least get that). The money will be used to help pay the creative people behind the #RockEnrol parties all around the country (because too many artists & creative people work for free & they shouldn't have to).

Who is playing?

Isaac Aesili, Third3ye, Chronophonium, Tyra Hammond, The Side Steps Quintet, Olie Bassweight, New Hang UPS, Church of Bass, Baker's Eddy, Trust Punk & more.

Who are we?

RockEnrol is fuelled by Our Place Events (among others). Our Place Events connects the crowd to the cause using the cultural mediums that people already know & love.

Can’t pledge money but want to play, promote, perform or offer a prize to #RockEnrol?

Email [email protected] for more information!

Will you help us to inspire & activate the voice of a generation this year (& beyond)?

Can you help us get RockEnrol over the line?

17/06/2014 at 2:03 PM

Kia ora RockEnrol'ers,

I write this message as a small group of us sit in an office on K Rd in St Kevins Arcade, Auckland sending hundreds of emails, tweets and FB messages out to as many people as we can think of asking them to support this crowdfunding campaign. We are in the final countdown with just over $2400 to go. We are excited, we are nervous but most of all we are ready to start making awesome stuff happen - thanks to your support.

This Friday 20th June at 10am we are asking our loyal supporters, family & friends to commit to taking part in a profile picture hi-jack. This is where we all change our profile pictures (twitter, fb) to the image below. If we do this at the same time, or on the same day and link our followers to this crowdfunding campaign by entering the URL: pledgeme.co.nz/projects/2168 as the comment we hope we can create some hype, interest and get #RockEnrol on the trending list for the day & get us over the line for this campaign.

Can we count on your support? Simply copy & paste the image below & change it to your profile picture this Friday :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

The RockEnrol crew (Kanna, Meliesha, Laurann & Laura)

Kia ora RockEnrol'ers,

Just a quick update to let you know that we made it into a Feature for The Wireless (the youth voice for Radio NZ)!

You can check the piece out here: http://thewireless.co.nz/themes/influence/mass-appeal-making-voting-matter. Some great stuff around youth voter turn out in a Kiwi context.

Please share the article with your friends & family and let's get this crowdfunding campaign that little bit closer to target!

Hello RockEnrol'ers!

We know that we have been breaking one of the cardinal crowdfunding rules by not having a video here and we feel really bad about that. The good news is we plan to rectify that this Saturday with a party in
St Kevins ArcadeWill you join us?

We're crowdsourcing people for a crowdfunding video for a crowdfuelled movement.

Come along and help shape the voice that is RockEnrolThere will be beers and there will be tunes and you can come ANYTIME between 12 and 6.
