SynBio Students Team Wants To Enter IGEM
Project 2014-03-22 15:50:40 +1300
We are a student team from the SynBio Club of The University of Auckland. We are fascinated by modern bioscience and synthetic biology.
We want to participate in the international iGEM competition.
iGEM is a cutting-edge international biology competition held in the United States of America. Having run for the past twelve years, it is recognised globally in the biotechnology industry and is the largest annual gathering of synthetic biologists worldwide.
There have been student teams from the best universities of The United States of America, Europe, China, Japan and Australia, but not from New Zealand.
Until now.
Along with over twenty team members on board the project we are working alongside expert New Zealand scientists, Professor Richard Gardner, Dr Siouxie Wiles and Dr Klaus Lehnert.
This is the first time anyone in New Zealand is attempting to enter iGEM; we are entering uncharted territory, we have direction but we need your help.
The whole project will cost approximately $35,200 to conduct.
To enter the competition we need to pay an entry fee of $4,100 before the 31st of March, 2014.
Please, support us.
Thank you.
