Collab Project with Loading Docs

LOADING DOCS is a trailblazing new initiative co-funded by The New Zealand Film Commission and NZ On Air, and managed by production company Notable Pictures to fund, create and distribute innovative New Zealand documentary shorts.

WE'VE REACHED OUR MINIMUM TARGET, BUT WE STILL NEED YOU!

If you're thinking of pledging please know that your contribution will still be greatly appreciated and help to cover our costs, which are much higher than our target. Of course we're thrilled this film is NOW HAPPENING so everything contributed will make it to screen - yay!

Ever taken a selfie? Most of us have! The great thing about selfies is that you have control of your own image. In the queer community, we're used to being misrepresented in the media - so we're creating a short documentary, filmed at the LYC Big Gay Out, using a camera in a video booth that people can self-operate. And we need your help to complete it!! This short film is being made as part of Loading Docs, and we need to raise enough money to get it over the line. The films are only 3 minutes long but a huge amount of work goes into that. We've done the filming and it was excellent - over 100 people shared their stories! But we can't finish without your support here on Pledge Me.

As individuals, we've worked in the film & TV industry for ten years or more. We know how hard it is to get queer content funded and we reckon it's really important! We're working together as a couple on this project for the first time, and we want to make it count. Please get behind us, and pass this link onto your friends too.

For more info & regular updates check out the Queer Selfies website and join us on our Facebook page.

Queer Selfies is now live online

28/05/2014 at 6:59 PM

We're excited to announce the launch of Queer Selfies - and we hope you like it!
Once again a huge thank you to all of you. We literally could not have made this film without your support.  We hope you're as proud of Queer Selfies as we are. It was really well received at the Loading Docs launch last night, and we love this review in Metro Magazine.

PLEASE PLEASE SHARE THE FILM'S VIMEO LINK!!

The more views this little film gets, the more likely other GLTBI content will get funded in future. Help us show that this matters.

Robyn & Paula xx

PS don't forget
you can catch Queer Selfies on the big screen before the screenings of Geography Club at the Out Takes Film Festival in Auckland or Wellington.

Queer Selfies launch!

26/05/2014 at 7:33 PM

Dear wonderful pledgers,

The film that you helped make happen is launching into the world tomorrow, Tues 27th May, along with the other nine Loading Docs films.

We'd love you to join us to see it on the big screen! There are limited tickets now released and available for the launch event tomorrow night, if you're in Auckland - get in quick! You can also catch it running before the screenings of Geography Club at the Out Takes Film Festival in Auckland or Wellington.

If you live elsewhere don't worry, you'll be able to see it online soon!

Once again, we're hugely grateful for your support. We hope you enjoy the film :)

Queer Selfies is on its way!

05/03/2014 at 1:35 PM

Yesterday the Loading Docs projects, including Queer Selfies, closed their fundraising campaigns. Thank you all SO much once again for your contribution! You've helped make sure that this short documentary becomes a reality. We're hard at work putting the film together now, and can't wait to send it out to you after the launch in May.

We're expecting to soon receive a rewards list from Pledge Me so we can see what you all chose, and can start getting those out to you! We'll be in touch with each of you individually as soon as we get this.

Thanks again, and do join us on our Facebook page for updates & pics :)

Much love,

Robyn & Paula xxx

It's Happening!

20/02/2014 at 9:47 AM

Woohoo!! We did it - YOU did it! You got us to our target and this film is now a certainty. Thank you SO much, each and every one of you pledgers. And there are an amazing 60 of you so far! Although we weren't the quickest to get there or the film with the highest funding, we do have the biggest number of pledgers (you!) so we're extra specially grateful for all your contributions which have added together to get this film made. Goes to show every little bit counts.

The campaign is still running, and we're still accepting pledges to help us cover the actual costs, so please tell your friends it's not too late.

We're looking forward to seeing who you all are and what rewards you each chose once the campaign ends on 4th March, and we'll be in touch with you each individually to say thank you. Meanwhile please know that we SO appreciate all of you. Thank you again!

Thank you!! And new vid....

14/02/2014 at 11:25 AM

Dear lovely, wonderful, amazing Pledgers to the Queer Selfies project,

Thank you SOO much!! We've just found out how to update you directly from the Pledge Me site - sorry it's taken so long! We're new to this site. Hopefully some of you have been following our Facebook page and seen our posts there.

We're so grateful for your support. We don't know who you all are yet - Pledge Me will send us the list of names and what rewards you chose once our campaign closes at the end of February and we'll get those prizes out to you. Though some of you might have already spotted some Big Gay Rainbows in your electorates :)

We're really crossing our fingers we'll have raised the $2000 soon or we won't get anything at all! So if you can pass this great new vid onto your friends that would be awesome. Hope you like it. You might recognise some people who came to the booth at Big Gay Out....

Thanks again and much love,

Robyn & Paula xx
