Becoming Mum, Blog To Book

Project 2014-01-16 19:06:01 +1300

WOW! I am funded already! Thank you all so much! Please keep spreading the word, as any extra funds raised will go towards making my work as professional as possible.

What do I need the money for exactly?

Glad you asked!

  • Cover design - mine isn't bad, but it's not terribly professional.
  • Proof Reading - if you read my blog, you KNOW this is a necessity.
  • Printing - obviously
  • Freight - I will be using an american self-publishing site, so will ship up to 50 copies into NZ to distribute at a time.
  • Any future reprints.

What if there is some money left over after all of this, what then?

Excellent question! I will then put the money towards publishing, proofreading and designing any future writing projects that arise. Rest assured, it will certainly be put to good use.

Also, nearer to the end of this year, I plan to release a follow up to the 'becoming mum' book project, which will follow our journey toawrds becoming 1 year old. So all funds will be greatly appreciated!

My blog continues atwww.anxietygirlgetspregnant.blogspot.co.nz

Original Pledge Write Up

At the start of 2013, I fell pregnant with my first child. I was absolutely terrified, and, having been through Depression and Anxiety many times before, I know I was in for a rough ride. So I  decided to keep a blog about it. Every week (and sometimes more) I wrote an update on how I was feeling, what was happening, how I was coping and what I was learning. What resulted was a detailed, eye opening, often funny and many times poignant diary of the journey towards becoming a mum. Mental health issues and all. I've had many mums and mums-to-be following the journey from all over the world, some not far behind the stages I am at, others already mums for a while, some even just wanting to become a mum but not yet sure. The blog served as a solace for some, and a reminder to others that the mental health of mums is not to be overlooked.

I've had a lot of feedback about turning it into a book, and so, that is what I have done. Now I just need to raise the funds to get it self published and hopefully, reach an even wider audience of mums' who just need to be reminded how awesome they are, yet so often feel alone.

Update Update!

Project Update! My manuscript has been proofread by the fabulous Katie Coluccio and now is mistake free. My cover is in the process of being designed, and everything looks ready to go! Am hoping to upload and print copies next week, so if you want one, start getting your orders in  In the meantime, pledging is still open so if you want your name in print (or even a free copy of the final project) - get into it while you still can!

Continued Funding

Hi everyone and thank you so so much for all your pledging. I didn't think I would raise the money quite so fast, so as a reuslt I have two more months for the campaign to run. If you haven't pledged and wanted to, or you know someone who may want to pledge, let them know that they still can.

Any extra money raised before the March closing date will be used to publish a young adult novel I am currently working on later this year. You can check it out here www.anxietygirlwrites.blogspot.co.nz

Thank you so much for helping me make my dream of putting my writing into print become a reality. Lets see how many of my stories I can get into the NZ market!

Take care

Jess

Thanks to all you incredible pledgers and followers and sharers so far! I am going to update the Toddler and Preschooler reward to both include a free copy, but for the preschooler one to also include a hand written thank you letter, and probably some chocolate, if I don't eat it first. I cannot edit this on the site however, so it's up to you to share, share share and spread the word amongst your friends everywhere. I am so close, it's all a little too exciting to bear! Only $270 left to raise and then I can go for it! Fingers crossed :)

Much love, Jess
