CAPITAL CULTURE

Want to have a laugh at scenesters?

We know you do.

WHO WE ARE

Hi! We are Virginia, Isobelle, Miriam and Martine, four close friends in our twenties who have known each other since childhood. We came up with this concept five years ago when we were all living together in Melbourne, the graffiti clad, culinary & fashion capital of the world. Surrounded by people who were defined by their threads, what bike they rode, what coffee they drunk, and what gallery openings they were seen at, we had many a laugh which eventually led to our mocumentary concept. After returning to our home country we are all now based in Wellington. Being amongst the scene here, we thought it was only fitting to make our show about the New Zealand equivalent, Wellington.

THE CONCEPT

Our comedy mocumentary will be formatted as a mini web series. Each of us plays one of four female characters, based on young, creative Wellingtonians. Lennon is a fashionista, a self proclaimed style setter running her own blog while working part time in a vintage clothing store on Cuba Street. Imogen is a hospo guru - a mixologist who lives for inventing the next innovative cocktail working as a bartender in a well known Cuba Street hangout. Willoughby is a singer/song writer and aspiring DJ who works in a cafe to pay the bills but life revolves around getting the next ‘gig’. Frankie is a film maker, a Toi Whakaari drop out who wants to work on her own film projects and every spare moment is a chance to network. Each scene takes a satirical look into their daily lives. Our show is inspired by the likes of Summer Heights High, Super City, Girls and Portlandia and web series such as Dalston Superstars and Bondi Hipsters. This concept is familiar on a global stage, but a first for a New Zealand production based around Wellington's young creative crowd.

AUDIENCE

Primarily the series is targeted at a young market, people between the ages of 16-35. However anyone familiar with New Zealand's cultural and social scene will be nailed by the humour. There will be irreverent digs about the people, arts, the cafes and bars, and the venues. If you like any of the above series, you’ll love this. You can relate!

OUR GOAL

We are hoping to raise $2000 but anything more towards our project would be amazing to really get this off the ground. We start filming in December and this would cover the cost of locations, filming and editing over this period. Money will be coming from our own pockets, but to make this show as good as it can be, we need your help! Please!
