About

GLORIA

Project 2013-10-31 20:45:28 +1300

GLORIA is a solo show inspired by my Grandmother , Gloria Stanford, and her remarkable life during WWII.

We received so much amazing positive feedback from people who came to see the Orewa Season earlier this year , so we are bringing it back by popular demand but this time a little closer to home here in Auckland at TAPAC in Western Springs.

Thank you so much to those of you who have seen, loved and supported the show ! Your enthusiasm after each performance and listening to the memories GLORIA brought back for you has inspired us to tour this show to as many cities and countries as possible !

We would also like to thank the  local creative funding bodies and individual sponsors who have supported previous seasons and allowed us to develop the production to its full potential !

Unfortunately, this time, our season doesn’t quite coincide with the funding bodies’ deadlines so we would really appreciate your support by donating towards this campaign.

We need to raise $2500 towards the venue hire in only 3 weeks !

We have some fantastic vintage prizes up for grabs which MIXT, Pure Provence, Junk and Disorderly and Askew have generously donated which will look very rustic sheek in your lovely home !

We believe that more than anything this show must continue because it is more than entertainment, it is a true story inspired by my amazing grandmother, Gloria Stanford and is a document that compels us to examine our history and question our own values. GLORIA has been described as a sophisticated, fearless and beautiful piece of theatre, but more than that, an important piece of New Zealand history packaged in a way that enchants and delights audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Please spread the word to any folks who may like to support our campaign and see the show!

The new incarnation of GLORIA is a slick, stylish and stimulating piece of original NZ theatre at its best!

Created by Amy and Catherine Waller

See GLORIA in this sparkling new incarnation, following its spectacularly scintillating season at Orewa’s Centrestage Theatre earlier this year.

As a 21-year-old, Gloria Stanford hit the international headlines as “The Bride Who Wouldn’t Leave New Zealand".  Almost seven decades later her granddaughters, Amy and Catherine Waller, celebrate her colorful WW2 years in this sparkling solo show.

GLORIA is a show for everyone!  The fusion of 1940’s swing music, dancing and fearless physical theatre promises to keep you on the edge of your seat.  You will be taken from the domestic to Film Noir to the fantastical, in the blink of an eye.

GLORIA re-examines this particular war bride's tale as she recalls the secrets, struggles and spellbinding adventures of her infamous past.
