MY CHAMELEON - Debut EP

Project 2013-10-18 03:30:42 +1300

Hey Friends! Family! Friends of Friends!

MY CHAMELEON is...

Will Sklenars upright double bass plya & wearer of bling

David Yee sings & plays guitar/banjo/melodica/mandolin and wears Swandri

Kim Andrews plays drums/percussion/glockenspiel & 4wheeldrives to jazz school

Jemma Irvine singer/ukelele/mandolin/harmonica player and seamstress deluxe

Gemma Macann sings/plays guitar/mahalo & cooks a mean 25spice lamb curry!

...a folk-indie-pop-whimsy-multi-instrument-Wellington band. You may have seen us play at; the Newtown Fair, Meow, Southern Cross, Nathan's birthday party, a house party OR heard us on; that National Radio Easter show last year, a demo off our bandcamp page, or maybe only heard us in your dreams.

However! Here now is your chance to hear us in a brand, crispy new way. We are about to record our first EP together!

What's the plan, stan?

As you are probably aware, up and coming musicians don't tend to make much money. Our band's ethos is more around community love than money anyway, so we tend to play a lot more unpaid gigs than paid gigs. When we do play a paid gig, by the time we pay for posters, parking, petrol, paying mum back for emergency guitar strings and giving a koha to our sound guy you don't end up with much moolah in the bank account either. But we HAVE raised $700, which is about half of what we need to record an EP!

Which is where our lovely friends/family/friends of friends/ and music-lovers future friends come in!!

How it'll happen

Break it down.

Mid-November, with the help of Nic McGowan (recorded with The Phoenix Foundation, Good Laika, Ginger Brown) of Island Bay we will record for a couple days, and Nic will mix and master the tracks. This is our main cost (our $700 plus your $700 = $1400)

The other $200 we are aiming to raise, will go towards Pledgeme costs, buying blank CDs, secret supplies for creating limited edition covers, and postage for rewards! Of course if we raise money over and above our goal we can; make more CDs, print cooler bigger posters, and distribute wider than Wellington!

We decided to spend the money on making a hi-fi recording and to create limited edition CDs and covers (instead of printing) not only to cut costs but also to encourage downloading the EP digitally instead (once it's on your ipod/phone you don't need that shiny plastic circle anyway right? Let's save the planet). This will be available on bandcamp.com

Speaking of which, go Listen to our demo on Bandcamp...

and go Like us on our Facebook page.

We want the EP mastered and ready to buy, by 26th December so we can sell them on our South Island tour. Whoot!

The Rewards

We have a few tiers on offer..Check them out ---> over on the right!! you can pledge from $5 to $500 (you know you want to...)!! If 45 friendly folk gave us $20 each we would make $900 and be Happy as Larry (and Lizzy).

So tell your mum, dad, bro and sis! Your poppa and nana! Your uncle, auntie, cousin, cat, horse and neighbours' baby sitter.. to give us some love x

Much love and thanks!!!
