What is FixTV?

What does Wellington need to bring together all it's talented peeps? Where are we able to celebrate Wellington's innovation and creativity live and online? Where are we able to watch a show covering all manner of genres from technology to music to cookery in a a cross between TV shows ‘Rove’ and ‘Later with Jools Holland’ with a dash of ’TED Talks’.

FixTV is an all new Wellington talk show hosted by musician and all round super man Adam Page and filmed in front of a live audience at Downstage.  The content from the shows will then be hosted online.  FixTV is a collaboration between Cuba Creative, Downstage and Random Films.

FixTV will showcase to a worldwide audience the best of Wellington, to create conversation, and to celebrate what is essentially 'Wellington'. It includes an eclectic combination of interviews, reviews and performances, with elements of live audience interaction.

In 2012, we will present four pilot episodes with a view to further development in 2013.

Why do we need your help?

Funds raised from PledgeMe will be used to fund production costs to kick start the first episode in July. All we need is $4000 to make this happen.  We appreciate your support in advance!

Organisations interested in sponsorship or sampling opportunities can contact Mark at [email protected] for further information.

Who are the creatives?

Presenter of FixTV - Adam Page

Hailing from Adelaide, South Australia, critically acclaimed Multi-Instrumentalist Adam Page has been performing his looping show nationally and internationally since 2006. He moved to Wellington in August 2011 after falling in love with the city while performing at Downstage in 2009.  His role as presenter brings together his gregarious charm with his role as a new Wellingtonian, discovering the city with fresh eyes.

Since moving to NZ, Page has already collaborated with John Psathas, Strike, Rikki Gooch (TrinityRoots, Eru Dangerspiel), The Troubles, and performed solo at Splore, Hamilton Gardens Arts Festival, WOMAD, Tauranga Jazz Festival and the Queenstown Jazz Festival 2011. He was the winner of Best Music and Best Solo Show at the 2009 New Zealand Fringe Festival.

Cuba Creative

Cuba Creative is Wellington’s collective production house incorporating independent arts/creative producers Mark Westerby and Adrianne Roberts. We are distinctly Wellington, but we also realise tour-ready projects that can engage national and international audiences - we are both a generator and presenter of creative ideas.

Our key areas of production experience include presenting dance (Carnival Hound, body / fight / time), theatre (Live at Six, Tinderbox, EOK: Everything is OK), music (Rhian Sheehan: Standing In Silence, Chris Prowse: Trouble on the Waterfront), installations (WGTN2040 and New Zealand On Screen with Storybox) and also a background in producing big ticket events including the New Zealand Performing Arts Market, New Zealand Fringe Festival and the Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards.

Cuba Creative are experts at producing and representing diverse local content. We would play a key role by co-producing this project from beginning to end, including assisting in the production management of the show itself, and having an expert hand in the research, curation and arrangement of high-quality content. Cuba Creative’s involvement will be spearheaded by experienced creative producer Mark Westerby.

Downstage

Downstage is Wellington’s only professional theatre venue that is deeply committed to serving the community in which it exists, as well as strengthening the theatre sector as a whole.  By seeking out collaborations with a diverse range of independent artists and emerging or established companies we provide opportunities for career pathways and means for sustainable practice.

Our audiences and our programming is proudly diverse, eclectic and quintessentially Wellington. While our core business is to showcase the work of Wellington’s independent theatre sector through our Presenting Partner programme, we acknowledge the need in the city to provide presentation opportunities for a wider range of Wellington talent and innovation.

Producing shows is our area of expertise.  Downstage would play a key role by contributing an established venue and associated services, infrastructure, expertise and a curatorial eye to this project.  We have on-staff know-how, producing and programming experience to ensure that live events are a success, well-managed and of a high quality.

Random Films

Random Films was founded by Company Director Charlotte Larsen (founder of the Emerging Artists Trust) with a brief to support and nurture emerging film practitioners in Wellington. Random Films boasts a collection of video and audio equipment and post production facilities from its Cuba Street office which would be utilised to record the shows on HD, provide editing services and complete the upload to the web.
