"SMOKE WILL RISE"

WHAT IS "NO CIGAR"?

"No Cigar" is a kiwi short film set in rural New Zealand. Teddy, an ex con recently released from prison, is trying to track down his son "Justin Phillips" whom he has never met. Upon arriving in the rural township Teddy meets Max, a quick witted yet paranoid young man who claims to know the whereabouts of Teddy's boy. A whirlwind of chaos ensues as lies, biker gangs and the "Tao Te Ching" all tragically collide in the backdrop of New Zealand's beautiful country side.

"A heartfelt film about an ex con in search of redemption and the son he never met"

WHO IS INVOLVED?
We have a talented team so far including: Greg Smith our lead actor who featured in "Mt.Zion", Alexandra Powell a young up and coming actress, Adrian Frencken our DOP who has personally been mentored by James Bartle (Cinematographer) and myself Peter Vulinovich, director and actor. This is my first short and I am putting my heart and soul into the project because that is the only way I know how to get a good result! I myself started working in the film industry at 19 years old as a production runner on commercials, TV shows and movies such as Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, since then I have completed a Diploma in Film making, produced 2 short films and acted in a feature which is set for release in 2014.

WHAT ARE THE COSTS?
We are doing all we can to stretch our current resources, but raising $4000 will give us some breathing space to pay for:

  • transport
  • camera gear
  • music for the film
  • catering
  • paying the lead actors a small fee
  • post production (editing/VFX)
  • Any money we raise over the $4000 will go towards film festival submission, marketing and screenings of the movie.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
