About

To Hold The Moon: A Novel

Project 2013-09-05 03:14:28 +1200

In 2002, I began writing a fictional story about people, culture, swords, ships and faith. 11 years and 366 pages later, that story is complete and I now want to give friends and family - that's you! - a chance to share in that journey by supporting this novel.

"To Hold the Moon" is a story about one man, the Captan Praed, and his attempt to piece together a crew for a journey to the Undiscovered Country – a shadowy world called Mænon – at the behest of his Emperor. All, however, is set against him; his crew has dispersed, their ranks in tatters, the political infighting eats away at the attempt, the Emperor himself has lost his mind, Praed’s wife drifts away, strange visitors from the west arrive, and a mysterious character called ‘The Rogue’ seeks to pull the whole thing down.

The book and artwork are now complete and are going through a final quality check. The printing is ready to go and on October the 13th, we'll be ready to make the call. All we need now is you! Even by reading this you are supporting this work and I thank you for being awesome. You rule! especially you...

Dark Princess - The Second Novel - is Looking for Funding!

06/09/2020 at 8:07 AM

Hey there, amazing people!

I can never thank you enough for your support for my To Hold The Moon novel project. Back in 2013 you helped me achieve a dream to self-publish a wild fantastical story and we were able to print 52 books, all thanks to your pledges.

Well, over the last seven years I've been penning the sequel: Dark Princess! If you managed to read To Hold the Moon and are keen to continue the adventures of Captan Praed and the crew of the David, you may be interested in checking out the PledgeMe link below.

Of course, if you were happy to help last time, but maybe the story wasn't for you - no problems! - please feel no obligation, but know I am grateful for your support.

The Books Have Arrived!

Yuss!

The books are here - sitting in my kitchen in a big box - so that means that sometime next week (while trying to print and mark Level 3 Design Folios at school) I'll be mailing them out or organising with you how you're gonna pick 'em up!

...and they look good!

PS They'll be signed unless you let me know you don't want that!

So.

The word from Apex Print in Petone is that I'll be able to go and pick up my book this week! That means that I'll have it in my hot little hands by the weekend... and that also means that for the first time since I started this project in May of 2002, I can't do anything on the book now - we are locked in!

I am so nervous right now...
