Midge Marsden CD

Project 2013-08-14 18:52:35 +1200

To record a new album for Midge Marsden.

This record will be be somewhat autobiographical, with new songs about the music and experiences that have influenced Midge over the years. The album will feature The Midge Marsden Band plus Horn Section plus Special Guests. Funding is needed to pay for Recording Studio hire, Musician Fees and CD manufacturing. We are asking for pledges of $30.00 for which you get a CD (incl postage) - so really it's just buying your new Midge Marsden Record in advance!

The clock’s ticking but I have several more albums in me.                            photo:Jason Hailes

So, following the 2007 release of ‘Travel ‘n’ Time’, it’s time to produce a new record .

  • New Originals

‘Payback in the Pipeline’ – my take on the Blues, past and present

‘Tiger Town’ – growing up near the colourful port of New Plymouth

‘One Bad Hammer’ – won’t drive my love away

‘Down to The Bone’ – will drive my love away

  • Recording songs of other NZ songwriters

‘Grown out of the Blues’ (Bill Lake) - life story of an old blues guy

‘That’s what I Love’ (Bill Lake)  - dancing, fun, girls, music

‘Love is an Ocean’ (Darren Watson) - the hope of love

‘Back to the Well’ (Alex Deane) - home alone on a Saturday night

‘Maxton, Mo & Bloxie (Alex Deane) – now we’re just people that we used to know

  • Recording some other Classics

‘Two Trains Running’ - McKinley Morganfield

‘Time is on my Side’ – Jerry Ragavoy

‘Drown in my own Tears’ -  Henry Glover

‘Struggling Man’ – Jimmy Cliff

‘That’s no way (to get along)’ – Robert Wilkins

We have demoed much of the material and are now fine-tuning the content.

There are endless stories to tell about the material  - to cover input for promotional interviews/ editorial.

The album will be supported with an extensive  tour.

The Band behind the Recording will consist of Chet O'Connell - Guitars, Grant Winterburn - Keyboards, Mike Abbott - Drums, Neil Hannan - Bass.  The Horn Section will include; Mark Dennison, Pete France, Steve Sherriff - Saxophones.  Vaughn Roberts - Trumpet. Special Guests will include;  Ian Moss & Hammond Gamble.                                   Photo: Jason Hailes
