Collab Project with The Ākina Foundation

The Ākina Foundation supports social entrepreneurs and ambitious communities to deliver game changing work in the areas of energy, housing, transport, land-use, and consumption and waste.

I've been accepted into Al Gore's Climate Reality Leadership programme.

The training covers the latest in climate science; best practices in public speaking; social media; leadership skills; communication strategies; and community organising and outreach.

The training will qualify me to deliver the latest version of the Inconvenient Truth presentation and to act as an advocate for action on climate change in New Zealand. 

The programme takes place in Chicago from 30th July to 1st August - I just need to get myself there!

I need your help to cover my airfares to Chicago and back. Air New Zealand air miles will be gratefully received as well, if you have some spare that you'd like to gift!

All other costs are covered already, either by myself or the Climate Reality programme itself.

ABOUT ME

I'm an energy projects venture manager for the Hikurangi Foundation in Wellington, New Zealand, and a partner in London-based leadership development consultancy Future Considerations Ltd. I stood for Parliament as the Green Party candidate for Wellington Central in the 2011 General Election. I'm married and live in Wellington.

Hey,

Thanks to you, I hit - and exceeded - my goal. So, on Monday, I'm heading to Chicago to attend Al Gore's Climate Reality Project leadership training and bring the campaign back to New Zealand.

Quite simply, I would not be able to do this without your help. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support. 

The pledges made over and above my goal will go towards the costs of my first Climate Reality presentation in Wellington and towards other costs of the programme.

Thank you, once again, for making this possible - without having to do the trip wearing a panda onesie...

I'll be in touch from Chicago.

Hey,

Thanks to your support, I am now over two-thirds of the way towards my goal of being able to bring the Climate Reality Project back to New Zealand.

I've been really quite touched from the support of my friends, both old and new, those whom I see a lot of as well as those I haven't been in touch with for some years.

I really do appreciate it. With only a touch over $800 left to raise, I am confident that I'll be able to hit my goal.
