Showcase - London

Project 2013-06-24 02:55:42 +1200

Help Nic reach the London's West End - The home of Musical Theatre!

Christchurch Singer & Actor Nic Kyle is grabbing opportunity with both hands and is heading off to London, with ongoing encouragement from internationally acclaimed singer Elaine Paige.

His project "Showcase - London" is raising money to secure the Lilian Baylis Studio in the heart of London to perform a showcase of repertoire to key members of the Musical Theatre industry. The showcase will provide a once on a life time chance to make an impression on some of the biggest names in the business and could lead to a career on the West End.

Accompanying Nic on the piano will be acclaimed West End Musical Director John G. Smith. John has Musically Directed a number of shows including Les Miserables and Fame and has performed with some of the worlds biggest artists including Robbie Williams and Katherine Jenkins.

John is currently working along side Oscar nominated director Sam Mendes on the West End's newest blockbuster Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

If Nic successfully reaches his funding goal, the showcase will be on the 12th of September.

“I never thought I would stand to applaud at an Elaine Paige concert for anyone other than Elaine Paige, but Nic Kyle was the magnificent exception. His is a rare and extraordinary voice with power and range – and he knows how to use it to perform”. David Allen, AussieTheatre.com

"I first heard Nic when I was auditioning guest vocalists for my 2012 Australian/New Zealand tour. I got sent a CD and immediately fell in love with the tone and quality of his voice. So it was an absolute thrill to not only have Nic join me on stage and listen to him sing every night, but also get to know this charming talented man. I hope I get the opportunity to perform with him again in the not too distant future."  Elaine Paige

Hear Nic singing Gethsemane here and Burn For You here .

4 Days to go!!

Hello all!

With just 4 days left before i need to hit my goal of $3500 it's getting exciting!

I've been in London for a week now and before that I headed north to the amazing Edinburgh Festival. 15 shows squeezed into 6 days!! It was a great learning curve and has given me a few ideas for shows I would love to take there next August.

As for my showcase back here in London.....

Preparations are going well. Yesterday I visited the theatre (Sadler's Wells) and was extremely impressed! It's a fantastic venue with great a great vibe for my cabaret-style showcase. I've already had interest from a few agents around London and with the official invitations going out tonight I am hoping for a few more bites.

Please keep spreading the word to friends and family and thank you so much to all those who have pledged already!!
