My project is one in which I am extremely passionate about. ‘Cultural Canvas Thailand’ is a company who run volunteer programmes throughout Thailand. They have one specific programme in which volunteers travel to Thailand and work with young girls who have been trafficked and teach them artistic skills to help the girls process their emotions, build confidence and gain skills in which they could one day build a career. 


I have been involved in the Dramatic Arts since the age of eight, performing, writing, directing and teaching, and am currently studying at Whitieria Polytechnic in New Zealand. Next year, in 2014 I will complete a degree in Performing Arts. I want to carry on in drama and work as an Art Therapist, focusing on children who have their basic human rights breached. 


I want to travel to Thailand in March 2014 as part of the 'Cultural Canvas' volunteer program for 3 weeks and teach a group of girls who live in a safe house in South East Asia who have previously fallen victim to human trafficking. I want to use my skills and passion for drama to help set the wrongs that have happened to these young girls right. 


I wish to spend the 3 weeks working on exercises to deal with nerves and stress, confidence building and public speaking skills. The funding I need is for the package 'Cultural Canvas' offers which includes flights, basic accommodation, and food for the three weeks. 


This project is hopefully the start of many, as I want to spend my life helping others through something no one should have to go through, let alone a child. No one deserves to be scared, hurt or lonely. No one is a product that can be sold, bought or abused.

Hi Everyone! Thanks to all that pledged or gave support! The pldegeme team is just organizing the capturing of funds and then I will be booking my trip ASAP! those who chose them, will receive their personalized letters after the trip as I am going to include photos/stories in the letter! To those who chose a bracelet - They will coming to you within the next three weeks. I will email you all separately to get your addresses so I can send them/drop them off. Thanks so much! I will be starting a blog soon which I'll update on here so everyone can keep track of what I'm up to.
