WORLD HIP HOP CHAMPS 2013 - LAS VEGAS
My name is Tia Sagapolutele. I am 19 years of age and of Samoan descent. I was born and raised in Manurewa, Auckland. I have just completed my diploma in Performing Arts and am now studying towards my Bachelor of Performing Arts with the Manukau Institute of Technology (M.I.T.).
On top of my study I am currently in a hip hop dance group with Dziah Dance Academy and recently we were chosen out of 11 groups to represent New Zealand at the World Hip Hop Championship in Las Vegas. I will have the opportunity to dance in front of thousands of people and compete for the title Best Crew in The World and a Gold Medal.
Over two thousand of the world’s best dancers will come together in Las Vegas for the 2013 World Hip Hop Dance Championship August 6 – 11, an event true to the real values of hip hop culture. Crews and MegaCrews from 35-40 nations will compete to capture the world title and international bragging rights while hip hop icons, artists and celebrities will be there too for all the fun and excitement.
Performing arts is my passion. It allows me to express how I feel every day through movement.
Although my schedule is hectic at times with full time study and commitments with Dziah Dance Academy, I have been working part-time too however my part-time job will not be enough to get me to the competition.
I am seeking funding to help raise money to be able to compete in Las Vegas with my dance crew.
Thank you for your consideration.

P.s The attached video was part of a school assignment. Through our dance video presentation we hope to project and enforce our own depiction of the negative change and impact that consuming drugs has and may have on your life if you choose to consume them. "Drugs will destroy your future. Don't become a part of them, unless you are ready to face the effects" is the message we hope to get across to the raw minds of our viewers, and in hopes that we can alter the current mentality of a young audience before it's too late for them.
