Horsing Around Aotearoa

Horsing Around Aotearoa is a once in a lifetime adventure dreamed up by Larissa and Kendall last year. It is a mission to trek around the North Island of New Zealand on horse back without a support crew. We will be starting in November 2013 and aiming to take 5-6 months to complete the North Island. If all goes well we will do the South Island the following summer!
Our team consists of:
Larissa - the sensible one with the outdoor and travel experience.
Kendall - the crazy one with the horsey background and knowledge.
Forest - our mascot, happy factory and garbage disposal...also a dog!
Chief - the grumpy old man who loves his food like nothing else.
Possum - the bootylicious babe who just wants to please and love you.
Beginning with the North Island we are going to ride the beach highways and bush tracks, camping out and meeting new friends along the way. Traveling without a support crew will mean we have to carry only the essentials, re-supply in towns along the way and rely on some good old kiwi hospitality.
Our budget is currently minimal, allowing only for the basics needed to complete this trek. We are buying secondhand gear and making other items. Extra funding through PledgeMe would allow us to complete our gear list including (but not limited to) saddles, bridles, saddle bags and other such horsey items vital to the treks success.
