ROSIE ROULETTE: Debut Album

My name is Rosanna Hewson AKA Rosie Roulette and I am a 20 year old singer/songwriter from Christchurch New Zealand. Some people may remember me from my time on New Zealand's Got Talent last year. :)

After two years of planning and working hard, I need just a little bit of help to make my dream of recording my debut album of original songs take flight. I have been raising and saving money on my own through busking and working for the last two years hoping I'd have enough to cover the studio costs but, due to the day to day cost of student life, I am still not quite there.

So here's where I ask for your help. By donating money towards my project you help me in completing it but you can also choose from some of the cool rewards available. So really it's a win/win situation! 
But first, here's a basic run-down of what I am planning to do:

I believe in the whole picture when it comes to music, not just a pretty sound maybe matched with a pretty face and nothing done half-asked. I want to create a truly inspiring piece of art including concept art and photography to accompany the story I have to tell through my music. I have the photography and concept stuff covered but in order to achieve the full picture I need to be able to cover studio costs and the costs of hiring in some truly amazing local musicians to make the music real top quality. Hiring in musicians is not cheap! At the end of the day it is about the music, which has been with me all my life and which I am ready to share with the world. I ultimately want to reach out to people through my music and help promote support for mental illnesses such as Depression. But it all starts with this album and I need your help. :)

A little background on me:

I have been singing and performing all my life and it is my greatest passion. I am in my third and final year of study at NASDA (National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art) at CPIT in Christchurch. It's a full time course and doesn't leave much time for much else, but I am serious about my music and in between all the study I find as much time as I can to do the odd gig and Cabaret styled performances. I am trained in Singing, Dancing and Acting and have my ATCL Diploma in Speech and Drama. I love Cabaret and Musical Theatre.

I am inspired very much by Dark Cabaret in terms of my musical style.
I also, however, draw inspiration from Classical Music and Rock Music.

I believe in clothing as being another vessel of self-expression, art and creativity just as I view song-writing, and I daily draw together outfits inspired by the Victorian and Rococco periods. For eample the likes of Japanese Lolita fashion, Steampunk and Victoriana.

Below I am pictured in Victorian/Burlesque inspired clothing for a photoshoot I did in Wellington.

I appeared on last year's season of NZ Got Talent as a musical theatre singer and was lucky to make it to the Semi-Finals (the top 30 out of thousands who auditioned up and down the country). It was an amazing experience and gave me a real taste for the big stage where I would love to take my music one day.
