Bulletin Aotearoa – Informing Communities 

Bulletin Aotearoa builds community capacity by circulating timely and relevant information. 

It enables people in rural and other communities to have their say on issues and changes that may affect them. Help us continue to deliver Bulletin Aotearoa to the people who benefit from this ‘everything in one document’ free publication. Bulletin Aotearoa is politically neutral, written in plain English on issues and information that could impact on all New Zealanders.

It picks up on a lot of information not covered by the mainstream media – did you know, for example, that Creative NZ sought your views about the way it supports music and musicians in NZ? 

Bulletin Aotearoa keeps track of important legislative changes, consultations, and discussion papers. And we let you know about resources and ideas you or your organisation could use. Bulletin Aotearoa goes out to national, international, regional, and local networks that actively disseminate it further afield; an estimated 300,000 rural and urban New Zealanders receive information from Bulletin Aotearoa each month. We need your help 

We are very grateful for the support of our sponsors, however, funding cutbacks this year means we are facing a shortfall of $15,000. While we have looked at a subscription model, this conflicts with our ultimate mission to ensure all people, no matter who they are or where they come from, can access information of importance to them. We want to ensure that cost is not a barrier. This money is needed to help Bulletin Aotearoa evolve and develop. We want to take advantage of recent advances in technology to get information out to those who need it even faster, and we want to share this information via as many web-based community hubs as we can. 

The Bulletin Team 

Craig and Paddy are our two highly experienced Bulletin Aotearoa editors. They access extensive professional networks and a combination of 22 years of personal networks, databases, and news feeds. They beaver away scanning at least 120 websites each month including international aggregator sites, national news sites, Government, and NGO websites, and at least 50 magazines and newsletters. These thousands of pieces of news and information are condensed into an easily readable digest, written in plain English. 

Bulletin Aotearoa is hosted and published by Rural Women New Zealand. It is a charitable, membership based organisation which supports people in rural communities through learning opportunities, advocacy, and connections. 

Rural Bulletin Audience & Feedback 

Bulletin is accessed by a wide range of groups, for example, community publications and radio stations, businesses and business associations, District Health Boards, Maori organisations (Iwi social services groups, runanga, trust boards, marae), central government departments and Parliament, law groups, safety groups, doctors, political parties, human rights groups, NZ embassies, libraries, schools, women’s groups, training organisations, other ethnic groups, people with disabilities, childrens' rights groups, community development organisations, churches, community welfare organisations, information centres, education advisers and informal education providers, police, community associations, co-operative associations, ambulance services, community advisors, and CABx. Rural Women New Zealand regularly receives unsolicited feedback from Bulletin Aotearoa readers.
