About

"Karma" - Short Film

Project 2013-05-07 00:35:12 +1200

Karma is not a stereotypical teen movie or action film. While it does have it roots in a mainstream cinema; it is a film that stresses the effects that bullying, depression and negative peer pressure can have on a person's psyche.

The film is produced by a range of experienced  directors, writers and actors. Although they are not mainstream actors, they have starred in various features films and short films throughout New Zealand and the world.

  • Most notable is Lee Ah Yen, who has accomplished a wide range of short films and several feature films produced in Hollywood.
  • Rebecca Paar is an accomplished British Kiwi actress.
  • Rishi Deepak is an upcoming NZ actor who has featured in a variety of short films.
  • Rachel Roberts is an upcoming actress from Wellington
  • Prashanth Naidu is an experienced director and actor who has featured in several short films, directed a feature film, as well as starring in two features, and producing a short film "WOLF"
  • Two other central figures are Shivneil Maharaj - Writer / Director of Wolf is the Co-Producer / Casting Director for Wolf, and Kate Hannam - Writer/ Director of Karma (produced and directed several other short films).
  • This film is also under the guidance of experienced writer / director - Lyn Kriyger (Auckand) who has produced world renowned documentaries.
We aim to gain the funding to uplift our project and bring social awareness to our society. This film has the sights of being released at various film festivals. With the help we get, we do hope to make this dream a realisation.

About

Rogue Gallery Pictures presents Karma; a surreal psychological thriller about a thirteen-year-old girl named Amelia, whose one wrong decision to kill a young child ruins her life forever and leads her to insanity.

Description

Karma was originally a twelve minute short film with an all male cast. It has now been re-written by Kate Hannam, who has added a feminine touch to the film.

From the Producers / Directors of WOLF and RE-LOVE (short films in production), comes a chilling thriller of mystery and murder underpinning the eternal law of Karma "What goes around comes around".

Plot outline

Have you ever been bullied? Forced to do something you shouldn’t? Everyone tends to focus on the victim. Not the bully. This film isn’t about the victim. It is about the bully. It can take over your mind and make you create people and stories in your mind to help yourself cope. To help your mind justify what you have done.
