NZ's Largest Online Recycled Clothing Store!

Project 2013-04-22 06:57:38 +1200

What is Fashion Alley?

Fashion Alley will be New Zealand’s Largest Online Recycled Clothing Store. The store will create a hub where young New Zealander’s are able to enjoy the creative and uniqueness of pre-owned clothing at their fingertips. It will create a reputation for low priced, stylish and alternative clothing at affordable prices and the products will all be hand selected to ensure all pieces available are of high quality, unique, practical and wearable. This is what makes Fashion Alley so different from any other online store that resells pre owned clothing (e.g. Trade Me, EBay, and Online Vintage Stores) – Fashion Alley diminishes the hours spent searching through pages of unnecessary and unwanted clothing without impacting the prices. Fashion Alley doesn’t stop there – customers will be able to sell their pre-loved clothing to Fashion Alley in return for credit to the store which also acts as one of Fashion Alley’s avenues for supply. The last section of Fashion Alley is the area where creators wanting to break into the online trading industry have the opportunity to open their own online store within Fashion Alley and get their brand out to the New Zealand public by taking advantage of the high traffic the Fashion Alley online store will achieve. It can be anything from homemade crafts to clothing.

Who else is involved?

A quick snapshot of those involved in Fashion Alley. From left: Yian Brown, me, Keesha Callaghan, Matt Hickmott, Georgia Parker, Sarah Allen and Lizzy Hayes

Yian, Keesha, Matt, Georgia and Lizzy are only snippets of the whole team that have brought Fashion Alley to this point and will continue to be a part of Fashion Alley in a range of different areas from photography, creative input and ongoing support.

Sarah alone has dedicated hours in between her studies to design the logo and 'face' of Fashion Alley, she has effortlessly taken the picture of Fashion Alley from my mind and drawn it onto paper.

How did I come up with the idea of Fashion Alley?

The idea of Fashion Alley originated purely my love for op shopping and my simple inability to be able to do it online! Also after two years of working as a head dresser at Fashion Week it became apparent to me how cut throat the fashion industry really is and so I wanted to create a place where people could really explore the industry, find themselves as designers and market their products without having to invest enormous amounts of money.

Tell me more!

Fashion Alley will consist of three sections:

Buying: The buying section enables customers to browse through a large range of recycled clothing by using a search bar or going through the menu and investigating the different sections. Fashion Alley will stock both womenswear and menswear and will extend into recycled home wear once the project is in progress.

Trading: This section is dedicated to NZers trying to crack the online industry. Inspired by UK’s online store - ASOS Marketplace where designers are able to create virtual stores as an avenue to reach the public with their creations. Likewise with Fashion Alley, NZ designers/creators will be able to open their own online store and directly sell to the NZ market through Fashion Alley. The quality of products will be monitored, there will be no start-up costs and the only fees will be a small percentage of the profit to help Fashion Alley continue supporting many more NZ designers starting out. Buyers will be able to search through individual stores or choose to view the products added by designers as one big section just like another buying section. This is a great option for businesses that have a physical store but don't have the resources to move online or anyone that wants to test the waters and try online without investing in a full website.

Selling: Sellers will be able to submit their pre loved clothing to Fashion Alley through an online form, which consists of taking a picture and describing the piece. Once accepted they will receive credit to Fashion Alley which can then be used on any product within the online store.

Fashion Alley will be grabbing the market opportunity of online trading and creating a whole new experience. Extracting the problems with sites such as Facebook’s Walk in Wardrobe and taking the idea of TradeMe and narrowing down to pre loved clothing and a specific age group, those who primarily use these sites, to develop a place in our little country where it is not only convenient and affordable but enjoyable to buy pre loved clothing online.

Where will the money go?

- Build, design, development of the most important thing (the website) and we will then be able to open to the public and give you great clothing

Hello!

My name is Allie Cameron and I am 19 years old born and bred in the city of the future and now making my mark in the capital city. Fashion Alley has been dwindling in my head ever since I first came up with idea three years ago - here's to reality! I am always happy to answer any questions or if you are interested about being in the designers section please email me here.

Thank you for having a squiz at the next generation in buying your grandmas gems or your parents ray bans from when they were tweens and didn't realise the super coolness they would now be.

Have a lovely day.
