Help The Beer Project hit the road this summer!

Hey, I’m Jed Soane and The Beer Project has been my long-term photography project, documenting craft brewers and their breweries around New Zealand since 2009. A book is finally taking shape but I am missing breweries from a couple of more out-of-the-way regions: Taranaki and Northland. This summer I am planning a road trip to photograph as many breweries in these regions as I can and I need a little help from you to cover the expenses. I have some fabulous rewards related to the project to offer you in return. And every supporter will receive a 10% discount on The Beer Project Book when it is eventually released.

Hitting the target will cover the basic costs of the trip (petrol, accommodation, and food) for a two week trip. Going past the target will mean a longer trip, more breweries, more photos, and more stories of the people behind your beer!

If you have never come across my work before you can see some at my wildly out of date website, TheBeerProject.com, or check out the last two editions of The Pursuit of Hoppiness. And I've added included some of my favourite photos below.

Target Achieved!

01/11/2023 at 9:29 PM

Thanks to your support we have reached the target, and just in time for my birthday! The Beer Project Road Trip is go. You’ve made me very happy. This is especially exciting given that promotion has been pretty light over the last week because I’ve been knocked down by covid (but on the mend now).

For those of you who have selected a print as your reward, start having a think about what photo you would like. How are you going to choose? Something from you favourite brewery? Maybe you’re in one of the photos? Check out the link I posted in the previous update for some possibilities. Or browse the Beer Project website gallery. I’ve also found some prints from previous exhibitions if you like one of those. Take a look at the photos below and see if anything there catches your eye.

I’ve also found several more hidden stacks of 6x4 prints so everyone might get one or two thrown in with their reward.

There are still five days to go in the campaign, so I’m positive we’ll push beyond the target to fund a longer trip.

I look forward to contacting you all next week with news of your rewards once the campaign is over.

Take care and thanks again,

Jed

Week One Almost Done

It’s been a good start to the campaign so far. Thanks to your support we are over a third of the way there. I haven’t done too much promotion this week as I have wanted to polish off some of the finer details. I have started going through my archives to pick a list of possible images for the calendar. You can have a sneak peak here. Let me know if you have any faves. I have also unearthed a stack of old exhibitions prints. I may add some of these as rewards because they will look much better on someone’s wall than hidden away in the dark corners of my house.

Take care, team!

Cheers,

Jed
