Lady in white & the man in the flowery shirt

Hi, my name is Vivian, we probably haven’t met, but if you live or dine around the East Coast Bays you may know my mum and dad, Anita and Steve (the lady in white and the man in the flowery shirt) of Browns Bay’s Beach Bistro.

You might also know that back in April 2016, having just celebrated Beach’s fourth birthday, there was a fire at the restaurant. As a result of the fire, Beach has been closed for the past 18 months. While this has been devastating for Anita and Steve, I know it’s also been tough for their fabulous regulars and friends. While they had hoped to reopen in October 2016, delays that were out of their control [insurance companies] saw the work on the restaurant repeatedly pushed back. Trying to keep a business that is closed viable has taken a serious emotional and financial toll on them both.

In August 2017, the family got the great news that work could start, and I’m happy to say that works are underway and the reopening of Beach is imminent. It won’t be easy, but we will make it better than before.

And that’s where you come in. I would like to introduce you to Beach LifeSavers. We are asking the Beach family for their help so that Beach Bistro can open on a positive footing, which will allow my mum and dad to get their business going and, in return, continue to support their community. If you need reminding of what a special place Beach is, just take a moment to read the moving story of ‘The Legend of Beach Spirit’, which was written by my uncle Rick after the fire. You will understand that Mum and Dad (the lady in white and the man in the flowery shirt) are some remarkable people and Beach Bistro is a very special place, supporting their community, the local CoastGuard volunteers and passionately caring for their regulars.

Food Addiction:
It's a serious topic we really understand and need to put a spotlight on!

Anita & Steve understand that 20 months is a long time to wait for the taste of the world famous Beach Bennies. So, we have arranged exclusive opportunities to share your passion and addiction for these signature dishes before the public get their fill.

Steve has created the BEACH BENNIE Club, limited to 100 members. Check out the rewards, there's a bumper sticker & key fob to boot.

If our French Toast was your passion, don't panic! we will have a special event just for you. An opportunity to share with a friend your love of Anita's Coconut treat.

Coastguarders:
Supporting the community is in our DNA

Here in Browns Bay, there is a group of amazingly generous and dedicated volunteers, our North Shore Goastguard!

Over the years they have inspired and supported Beach Bistro hugely. Their dedication to keeping boaties safe is why the lady in white and the man in the flowery shirt have kept them 'caffinated' before going on duty. With your help we want to do more, Feed them!.

On your behalf, Beach will provide a lunchbox for a Browns Bay Coastguard volunteer when they’re out on duty. This saves the Coastguard team from having to buy their own lunches and is one small way we are able to help out in the community.

Introducing 'The Coastie Lunchbox' with your name on it. Check out the rewards to see how you can participate.

Pre Opening Events:
 Practice, practice, practice

We want to ensure we are ready to meet the expectations of our decerning and patient patrons. We have a new restaurant, new staff but the same desire to impress and satisfy you.

So, we are going to take some time to get it right before unleashing Beach Bistro on the public.  Don't panic if you miss out on these opportunities because there are other occasions to enjoy and share with friends by pledging support here.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our project, if you do pledge your support you'll get a Huge 'virtual hug' from me. I'm sure you will join with me in wishing the speedy return of the Beach Spirit that the Lady in White and the old man in the flowery shirt bring to Browns Bay, our neighbourhood and community.

p.s   Mum & Dad are seeking to 'adopt' new members into their family of staff.  People with attitude, passion & heart desiring to learn and care for our customers & each other.

'Skills can be taught, attitude can not'  If you know anyone like this, share this link with them www.beachbistro.co.nz/staff, thanks!
